BIOGRAPHY

Omer Leshem is a saxophonist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Leshem's unique compositional and improvisational style is influenced by a wide range of genres. His music seamlessly combines Mediterranean grooves and lyricism, classical harmonies, and contemporary free jazz. Leshem was featured at New York’s finest venues, touring internationally, and performing in festivals for nearly two decades. He is the winner of several acclaimed jazz competitions including Eurofest, Red Sea JazzFest Competition, and Rostov International Jazz Competition.

Leshem released three albums, all featuring his original compositions. The latest, Play Space, was released in September 2024 with Ubuntu Music. Alongside Leshem on tenor saxophone his quintet features some of the finest and most innovative musicians in the New York scene. Together, they form a distinct, fluid, and rich sound, where one can find an unusual yet organic fusion of musical styles. The band has been performing for over 4 years in venues across New York (Ornithology, Cafe Erzulie, Fiction, Dada, etc.) with their exciting and engaging materials drawing jazz connoisseurs and lay audiences alike.
